The Cambridge Diet is a popular very low calorie diet (VLCD) that has a large number of followers throughout the UK. As the dieter loses more weight, more and more calories are added until the diet becomes a low calorie diet. After enough time the tiers move up to the normal calorie range of a healthy diet.
Any dieter who is seriously looking at the Cambridge Diet needs to consider several things before committing to this eating pan. The first consideration is medical supervision. While this weight loss plan is used quite often in the UK, it is only done with proper supervision to make sure dieters remain healthy throughout the entire process.
The next major consideration before beginning this weight loss plan is the difficulty of following the strict regiment that this diet demands. This diet in the beginning only allows 450-650 calories a day and not any more. For most dieters, this is going to be an extremely hard total to stick to.
Controversy remains around the Cambridge Diet. There are some nutritionists who are adamant in their arguments that the earliest tiers of this diet simply don’t offer enough calories. Another problem related this very low calorie diet is the concern over muscle loss or crashing metabolism.
However there are plenty of defenders of this weight loss plan. The biggest positive is obvious: it’s a diet that has worked for thousands of morbidly obese individuals. That can’t be argued with.
The Cambridge Diet is going to have its fans, and it is going to have its detractors, as well. While arguments and controversy might continue, there is little argument that this weight loss plan can work for badly overweight individuals.
