2009 October 26

Are you looking to lose weight? Do you want to have more energy than you have done in years? Do you want to look great? Do you want to live a longer, healthier life?

I’m sure that the answer to all of those questions is yes! And what you will learn from reading this article is that losing weight and getting fit quickly really is easier than you may have thought. Having the body you’ve always imagined is easier than you would think. Below are the 7 simple steps to losing weight and getting fit quickly.

START OFF SLOWLY. Do not set overly ambitious goals when you first begin exercising. You are more likely to not achieve what you have set out to and as a result your motivation and enthusiasm will suffer. Failing to reach an overly ambitious challenge may result in you thinking that exercise as a whole is just too hard for you. This is not the case. Start off by exercising once or twice per week at the most, and then once you are comfortable with this level, increase it to 3 or 4 times a week. The key is to increase the number of times you work out slowly.

HAVE A PLAN FOR FITNESS. Use a note book or a chart to monitor your progress. Every time you exercise take a note of what you have done and where you are with regards to reaching your goal. If you want to be a certain shape by the end of the year, then each time you workout imagine what you want, see yourself getting there and write down what you have just done to achieve your objective. You also need to note down what you eat each day and an approximation of the calories you consumed. You are more likely to succeed if you have a realistic plan that you can stick to. That way you will stay motivated and you will succeed in achieving your goal.

EXERCISE IS BENEFICIAL. Always remember that you are exercising to improve your health above all. Your health is crucial to you having a longer and happier life. Being fit also benefits all aspects of your life. You will find that you will have increased energy levels, you will sleep better and you will face daily challenges with ease.

EXERCISE NEEDS TO BE PART OF YOUR ROUTINE. Exercising cannot be a hit or miss thing in your life. You need to schedule it in and give it the importance it deserves. If you want to see results you need to work out on a regular basis so stick appointments to exercise in your diary and keep them.

CHANGE YOUR EATING HABITS. Exercise is only half the answer in losing weight and getting fit. Remember excess fats you are storing are simply unused energy. In order to shift these fats you must burn off more calories than you are consuming. With the wealth of information available to us, it can be difficult knowing what is healthy and what is not. A good place to start is to look at healthy eating cookbooks and websites. Start by increasing your intake of raw foods such as vegetables and fruits and try to make your meals from scratch so you know exactly what is going into them.

DON’T SKIP YOUR MEALS. Breakfast sets up our metabolism for the day. Your body needs food after sleeping all night so make sure that you have a decent breakfast. It is just as important to not miss any other meal. Missing meals knocks your blood glucose levels all off and your body then sets itself up to store the fats from the next meal you eat. Upsetting your metabolism in this way is certain to make it much more difficult to lose weight. It also affects your enthusiasm for exercise as you do not have the energy needed when you need it.

DRINK LOTS OF WATER. We all know this but rarely do we drink as much water as we should. If you drink too little your body holds on to water and you become bloated. You will find that if you increase your water intake you will actually lose some weight as your body resets itself to stop storing water. Water also cleanses our body so we need a good supply to keep our digestion on track and our kidneys flushed of toxins. So try and drink 6-8 glasses per day, more if you are exercising. And sodas, teas and coffees do not count towards this.

It’s not so hard to start losing weight and getting fit quickly. You just need to follow the above steps and stick with it. I wish you every success.
